Duties of the County Assessor

- Oversees the general reassessment process.
-Ensures countywide uniform property tax equalization 
-Discovers and identifies omitted taxable property.
-Reviews sales disclosures for validity of selling price. 
-Recommends the selection of assessment software and computer systems.
-Reviews property tax exemptions.

Primary Function

The Primary Function of this office is to assess the value of real and personal property. Property taxes in Indiana are collected by the local county treasurers based on assessments that are provided by the county assessors. These assessments are based on the guidelines and regulations set forth by the state legislators and adopted by the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance. ​
